2026/27 approved mileage rates

Cars and vans: 55p a mile for the first 10,000 business miles, then 25p. Motorcycles 24p, bicycles 20p, and 5p per passenger per mile. Self-employed people using simplified expenses claim the same rates instead of actual vehicle costs. Passenger payments are tax-free when paid, but can't be claimed as relief if your employer doesn't pay them. Commuting doesn't count.
